Daystar Peterson (born July 27, 1992), better known by his stage name Tory Lanez or T-Lanez, is an Canadian born independent rapper, singer-songwriter, and producer. He has been often compared to Drake, Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Lloyd, and Michael Jackson. He started rapping at the age of nine. At the age of eleven, Daystar discovered that his mother was ill with a rare disease that affects every four in every one million people. With the devastating loss of his mother and the absence of his father who is an ordained minister and missionary, Daystar was forced to provide for himself at the early age of fourteen. He moved into an apartment in Toronto with his older brother and three of his older brother’s friends that had also found their ways out of the reach of their parents. Daystar started performing live at the age of sixteen. Daystar was mainly first into rapping but, he started getting into rapping when he was seventeen, he taught himself how to sing and wasn't into vocal training. Aside from Toronto, Peterson has also lived in Montreal, Florida and New York, which have all helped develop his diversified sound. Daystar used to do his music videos in South Florida and posted them on YouTube. Sean Kingston was looking around on YouTube to find some of Akon's material and happened to find some of Daystar's and he came across the "Beamer, Benz, or Bentley" freestyle he did and got really interested with him and his singing skills. In February 2010, Kingston contacted Peterson and met up in Toronto with Justin Bieber at one of his tours, and is also when he made his first performance live.He has created his own music genre called, "Swavey" which is the genre of being able to conjoin one or more genre’s together. Congrats to Amanda B. and Dora R. on landing a Music Video for The Glorious Sons. About The Glorious Sons:
There is a mechanic shop in the heart of industrial Kingston - it’s tucked in the corner of a dusty cul-de-sac, surrounded by dead trees and rusted out machinery. That’s where The Glorious Sons call home. Having burst onto the scene in 2013 by winning the HTZ-FM Rocksearch and following that up with two top-10 Active Rock singles (“Mama” #6, “White Noise” #2), this band’s ascent in the world of Canadian music has been quick and well-deserved. They are the next generation of great Canadian rock to emerge from the Lime Stone City. The Glorious Sons are an everyman band, telling real stories from a blue-collar perspective. They hit their stride with their new album, “The Union”, a collection of honest and heartfelt songs touching on themes of life, love, passion, loss and redemption. Vocalist/lyricist Brett Emmons is one of the strongest new voices in Canadian rock, backed by a lush, loud and powerful soundtrack supplied by guitarists Jay Emmons & Andrew Young, and the rhythm section comprised of Adam Paquette (Drums) & Chris Huot (Bass). After recording their debut EP (“Shapeless Art”, 2013) with The Trews’ John-Angus MacDonald, they paired up once again to produce the lions share of “The Union”. John-Angus imparted a level of song-craftsmanship and experience that the band found invaluable. The results speak for themselves with an eclectic and cohesive collection of songs including the fist-pumping drivers “Hard Times” and “The Contender”, the epic “Lover Under Fire”, the chaotic title track “The Union” and the beautifully crafted album closer, “Amigo”. “Working with John-Angus has been the honour of my life,” says singer Brett Emmons. “When you are able to push and pull with a hero of yours as well as listen and be heard, you get perspective on yourself and on your dreams.” In addition to John-Angus’ contribution, the band also worked with famed Canadian super-producer Gavin Brown on two tracks – the lead single, “Heavy” and the hopeful full-band ballad titled “Lightning”. The album also features re-mastered versions of the band’s two previous top ten singles, “Mama” and “White Noise”. The album was mixed by Werner F and Gus van Go. “With this album, I wanted to create a feeling of nostalgia that would make people look back and wonder what they had missed,” says Emmons. “When I picked up my first guitar, I couldn’t help but sing. When I started singing, I couldn’t help but write. All I want is for people to hear this album, because I feel like we’ve been writing it our whole lives.” The real power and beauty of these songs comes to life on a live level. The Glorious Sons are quickly becoming known for their energetic and unrelenting live shows – vocalist Brett Emmons has an uncanny ability to win over a crowd no matter what the size – small club or festival headline, this band engages their fans in a way few acts can. Even with all that has happened in the last eighteen months, the band has stayed true to its blue-collar roots. You can still find them jamming above that same dusty mechanics shop. They’re unabashedly honest and real which is what is most endearing about them to their fans. That’s a characteristic they will carry with as they travel across Canada and around the world sharing their music with anyone who will listen. Congrats to our talent Jonathan C. on landing a project for KLEENEX (Commercial) About Kleenex:
Kleenex was the first Western facial tissue, introduced in 1924 and originally marketed as a way to remove cold cream or makeup (it had been in use for centuries before in Japan; see History of facial tissue for details). It was a disposable substitute for face towels or cotton wool. In 1925, the first Kleenex tissue ad was used in magazines showing "the new secret of keeping a pretty skin as used by famous movie stars...". A few years after the introduction of Kleenex, the company's head researcher tried to persuade the head of advertising to try to market the tissue for colds and hay fever. The administrator declined the idea but then committed a small amount of ad space to mention of using Kleenex tissue as a handkerchief. By the 1930s, Kleenex was being marketed with the slogan “Don’t Carry a Cold in Your Pocket” and its use as a disposable handkerchief replacement became predominant. In 1943, Kleenex began licensing the Little Lulu cartoon character to popularize the brand. Congrats to our talent Nikki L. on landing a project for Ontario Electronic Stewardship (Commercial) Review More details on Ontario Electronic Stewardship:
Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES) is a not-for-profit industry organization that began operations in April, 2009 with leading retail, information technology and consumer electronics companies (called “Stewards”) who make and market electronic products in Ontario. OES collects fees from Stewards to fulfill obligations set out by Ontario’s Waste Diversion Act (2002) and the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Program Plan. The program requires electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) “brand owners,” “first importers,” “franchisors,” and “assemblers” to fund the diversion of their products from the waste stream. On October 30th, 2013 Ontario Electronic Stewardship entered an outsourcing agreement with Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA). OES continues to be responsible for the Ontario WEEE program. The outsourcing arrangement means that OES will be managed by the EPRA team, an extension that will augment system and process support for stakeholders. EPRA operates seven (7) other provincially approved, not-for-profit electronics stewardship programs across the country, providing effective and efficient regulatory compliance on behalf of our stewards within each province that we operate. OES is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of Stewards from across the supply chain, who represent a wide range of obligated electrical and electronic equipment. Officers, directors, and employees of companies that supply designated products for sale in Ontario are eligible for appointment to the Board. The Board includes voting and non-voting (observers). OES’s Executive Committee and Chair regularly review the Board’s composition to ensure adequate Steward representation for all obligated products.
